A blog of my favorite fanfiction and whatever else catches my eye.

  1. Her Element

    ladykorra:

Waterbending is a comfort to Korra. Water soothes. Water is home, Senna’s cool hands on young Korra’s scrapes and burns, of which there were plenty; is the calmness of Sifu Katara, the only person Korra would speak with after they grabbed her, kicking and screaming, from her home; is normality, something she was born into rather than the things that make her a freak.

Waterbending is part of a proud heritage, a community, a family. Something that’s inherently Korra, not Avatar, and the feeling of camaraderie and pride whenever she sees another Water Tribe descendent. It’s a feeling of closeness to her Sifu, a woman she looks up to perhaps more than anyone. It’s the flow of energy through her, and pure happiness— the closest Korra gets to spiritual is when she’s waterbending, really concentrating on the motion of the world.

  3. First Impressions

    innerpalindrome:

    Fandom: Legend of Korra
    Title: First Impressions
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Bolin, Mako, tiny hints of little-kid-crush!Borra
    Rating: PG
    Warnings: Fluffy fluffy fluff
Summary: Bolin and Mako got their first look at Korra long before they met on that fateful day at the arena.

There’s a picture of a girl on the front page of the newspaper.

It catches Bolin’s eye, crumpled to the side in the trash can, as he digs through for scraps of food. There is something noticeable about her; maybe it’s her smile. She looks so tiny, surrounded by solemn and important looking men on both sides, but she’s still grinning toothily, broadly, fearlessly.

  6. Little

    ladykorra:

[for minuiko who has drawn a couple of beautiful things for some of my fic and requested mako and bolin’s first night on the streets]

Stumbling over the cobblestones in the dark, Bolin follows Mako blindly, their sweating hands clutched. He can’t help but feel as though there’s something following them- the monster hiding under his bed, the bad spirits that catch naughty children. Bolin grabs Mako’s hand tighter and he hisses. Mako is carrying both their bags, and Bolin’s only holding his little rabbit, held close to his heart.

Mako is trying to summon his patience as he kneels next to Bolin. He’s only three years older, but right now, he looks so much bigger than Bolin does. “Bo. We need to go fast right now, okay? We need to find a place to sleep. Like camping, remember? We can’t keep stopping.”

“Monsters.” Bolin whimpers, hiding his face in his bunny. “Monsters are coming.”

  8. ornamentedbeing:

Christine’s Masquerade dress fits in perfectly with this song: At the ball I’ll dance like never before spinning up and down and round on the floor. When the music plays it’s so entrancing at the mermaid’s ball when I go dancing. It’s a lovely night, the seabreezes flow, dancing by the light of starfish a-glow. Dreaming I’m in love, it’s so enchanting at the mermaid’s ball when I go dancing.

  9. Assurance - [The Legend of Korra]

    summerlightning:

A/N:  Five minutes, 500 words.  …not counting when I fell asleep in the middle of it.

    ASSURANCE

“Oh!”  The woman pauses in the doorway, one hand braced on the bulge of her belly, the other thrown up in a star over her lips.  “Oh”—her voice softens; her mouth does too, its smile easy—“I’m sorry, Korra.  I wasn’t expecting to see you up this early.”

The Avatar blinks sleepily at Pema from the table sequestered in the kitchen’s corner.  At her shoulder the window glows gray and pearlescent, thick with dawn’s coming.  She yawns and admits, “I’m up, yeah, but I dunno whether I’m awake exactly.”
